Changes to my study program

Imagen
Hi everyone! Today is our last blog and the theme of today is the changes I would change in my study program (Anthropology): Current study program has two years of basic stage, two years of specialty (Archaeology, Social Anthropology or Physical Anthropology) and one year of practice and final research. Also we have two courses for all Faculty students, general training and English courses. In general terms, I like the program of Anthropology and we have meetings with professors to talk about the problems during the courses and how can be solved. But, I think it’s necessary to make some changes: Those two courses for FACSO students are not necessary for me at all. One is enough (academic writing course). I prefer concentrate in my career courses or in the general training and English courses. Second, in Department of Anthropology there are good professor… and bad professors. People who has researches and writings, but they don’t know how to teach and what it’s worse: they do...

Time Travel

Hi everyone! Today I’m gonna talk to you about a time travel I would like to do. I like History, so there are so many places where I would go to, but I’m gonna choose just one and this is going to be the 60’s Chile.   This period is very interesting because it was a deep-reforms historical stage because there were, in the first place, an earthquake in 1960, the most powerful earthquake recorded (my grandfather experienced it in Valdivia. He was 15 years old). He and my another grandfather remember the US Army or Navy helping people. In the second place, there was a Cold War between United States and the Soviet Union and Chile was not apart of this conflict. By one hand, part of the Chilean society wanted to keep the traditional order, specially in the country and the economy. By the other hand, another parts of the society wanted make change through reforms or the revolution. For someone, reforms matched a balance between social justice and prevent the revolution, es...

My future job

Imagen
Hi! About my future work i would really like working as a archaeologist. I studied Pedagogy in History before and I didn’t like it, so I entered to Anthropology in 2022, I already had my first job in January and it was a good experience. I imagine myself traveling to various places of Chile, excavating in archaelogical assents and finding material remains. Archaeologists are necessary for environmental impact studies in Chile because there are laws protecting heritage (Monumentos Nacionales and Ley Indígena Laws). What skills will I need? I will need, first of all, my Archeologist’s degree, because laws ordain that only archaeologists can leading archaeological projects. Secondly, a driver’s licence. Sometimes it’s necessary driving to distant places like the desert or the mountains. And last, but no least, good shoes, hat, proper clothing, shovel, bucket and pick. About the salary, it’s a well-paid job, there are so many projects in mining and construction and few archaeolo...
